Tomoko's Diary.....January

                                                                                               Hi, Friends!
I am back from a winter break. How are you?

                                                                                   Five on Friday

(1)
2017, is the year of the Rooster, which is the tenth animal in the 12-year Chinese zodiac calendar.
As the first post of this year, let me show some cute roosters.
There are lovely roosters that live in the garden of Isonokami Shrine in the city of Tenri in Nara.
The various roosters were donated to the shrine 40 years ago and they have naturally bred there since then.
There is no special religious significance for them and they just roam around the garden, loved by many a visitor.
I sat on a bench in the garden, smiling at them and clicking the shutter on my camera.

                                                                                                        (2)
                                                                                                   .....I can climb....

                                                                                      ?          ?

                                                                                                         jump!!!

                                                                                                       Well done!

                                                                                                             (3)
hen houses and the Shime-nawa hung:the sacred ropes for the Shinto religion.

                                                                           We are together.

Happy New Year! Next Year is my turn......Dog....Remember?

                                                                    Thank you for your visit.

                               I will visit you soon.

May the New Year bring you a lot of happiness and smiles! Tomoko

Such lovely shots with roosters; they are so beautiful, indeed, with various colors of plumage. The place must be wonderful to relax and to have a nice walk!

  14. Thank you for taking me to the Isonokami Shrine, it is beautiful! I love how the roosters can walk freely, a lesson to be learned. Their colors are vivid against the grays of the stone. I took time to admire their beauty and to relax as if I was there.

  15. Happy Lunar New Year and all the best this 2017. I always like birds and chickens are included in the list, not as food, but as lovely creatures to look at or even taken as a pet.

  19. Happy New Year!!! What a great way to start the year of the rooster! I had no idea that it was that year at all. I do have a (very English version and not at all authentic!) Chinese meal planned for dinner on Saturday to celebrate.

  39. At first I saw only the pictures of the males, and thought, Oh, they'll be very lonely! :) but I see that's not the case now. A good idea to have animals around the shrine. Have a good February, Tomoko!
